[Account book of Rev. Samuel Wigglesworth, 1710-1753, 1767-1768].

Vellum bound account book. Cover has "Rev(d) Sam(l) Wigglesworth account book". The earliest entries, 1710-1712, are for charges for medical care provided by Samuel Wigglesworth as a physician during the short time he practised medicine before entering the ministry. Includes a statement of the terms for his settlement in Ipswich as well as the following entries: "An account of what I have expended about my house, barn, garden, fences, well, little house, etc." and "Account of my salary for the year" 1715-1753. There are four loose account book pages in the back of the book dated 1767-1768.

Samuel Wigglesworth was born 4 Feb 1688. He graduated Harvard 1707 and 1709. In 1710, he went to Ipswich Hamlet to begin practice; however, he soon returned to school to study divinity. Rev. Wigglesworth was ordained the first pastor of the Third Parish in Ipswich, Mass. on 27 Oct 1714. He died 3 Sept. 1768 [see Joseph B.
